Chapel of La Mirada is built on legacy-one rooted in faith, family, and freedom. The venue stands on the grounds of Maranatha Chapel, a Romanian Christian church founded by immigrants who fled communist oppression in search of a place to worship freely.
Under a regime that silenced faith, Daniel and Lucy Burtea left everything behind to build a new life in a country where their love for Jesus could flourish openly. In California, they planted not just a church-but a refuge. A home. A sanctuary.
Today, their story lives on in every wedding, celebration, and gathering held here. The chapel isn’t just a space–it’s a testimony. Every event held at Chapel of La Mirada carries with it the quiet strength of those who came before, and the beauty of faith, freedom, and fresh beginnings.

Andrea Burtea, a proud mother of two and passionate event curator, is the founder and creative force behind the venue business hosted on the church grounds. Married into the Burtea family, Andrea saw the chapel’s potential to become not only a spiritual home-but also a place of celebration, beauty, and community.
With elegance, organízation, and care at the forefront of every event, Andrea created Chapel of La Mirada as a venue for couples and families to write their own unforgettable moments Surrounded by the sacred history of the chapel and the warmth of family tradition.

Daniel &
Lucy Burtea
Daniel and Lucy Burtea are the original founders and lifelong caretakers of Maranatha Chapel. As Romanian immigrants, their journey began with faith under fire-risking everything to escape a government that criminalized their devotion to Christ.
Arriving in America with nothing but courage and conviction, they planted this chapel in La Mirada as a gift to their community and to future generations.
Known for their humility, hospitality, and tireless service, Daniel and Lucy continue to care for the chapel today-tending to its grounds, opening its doors to others, and quietly praying over the families who enter. Their legacy is written in every corner of the chapel, and their presence is a quiet but powerful part of every event held here.
